Lifeline (Red) Button LIVE Distress Mode (Do not use this
mode for testing purposes)
To Activate:
1. Press and hold the red button for 3 seconds
2. The LCD screen will display "Distress mode ON"
3. Lifeline will wait up to 3 minutes for an accurate GPS position
lock, and proceed as soon as it has an accurate position (shown by
satellite lock icon in the upper right).
4. Text on the LCD screen will rotate the text "Distress Mode" to
show that the distress cycle has been activated.
5. After getting an accurate position lock, an alert transmission
is sent with your unit's GPS coordinates, the MMSI identity number
and an alert message followed by a 1 second flash of the position
indicator light.
The transmissions will continue every 5 minutes for 30 minutes or 7
complete transmit Cycles.
After 30 minutes the transmissions reduce to once every 10 minutes
and the lifeline will go to sleep between transmissions to conserve
battery life.
To Deactivate:
1. Press and hold the red button for 3 seconds
2. The LCD screen will display "Distress mode OFF"
Distress TEST Mode: This is a test for the lifeline (red)
button that does not send a live distress call. This test will NOT
send a DSC transmission.
To Activate:
1. Hold both the green and orange buttons down at the same time to
enter the MENU mode on the LCD screen.
2. Then press the green button repeatedly until the LCD menu
displays "Distress Test"
3. Press the Orange button, you will see "continue yes no"
4. Press the Orange button again to select "yes" and activate the
distress test cycle.
The test is now initiated. The display will show "Distress Test ON"
for 3 seconds then switch to the standard display. The display will
show "distress test" every few seconds in the LCD display.
To Deactivate:
1. Hold both the green and orange buttons down at the same time to
enter the MENU mode on the LCD screen.
2. Then press the green button repeatedly until the LCD menu
displays "Distress Test"
3. Press the Orange button, you will see "deactivate"
4. Press the Orange button again to select "deactivate" and the
distress test cycle will stop.
If you forget to deactivate the distress test do not worry, after 30
minutes the unit will enter the sleep mode and the distress test
will be disabled leaving your unit fully functional for your next
dive.
