Here is a list of other common remedies for any issues with connecting to your Windows PC.  Try the following steps in order until connectivity is found:

  • If you are using a version of Windows that is outdated (ie. a version that is not Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7), and you believe this to be the problem, try using a computer with a more recent version of windows in order to connect your Lifeline.
  • Is your Lifeline USB cord connected directly to your computer or into a powered hub? Some powered hubs do not provide enough power, and Lifeline connectivity may be affected.  If it is connected to a hub, try connecting your Lifeline USB directly to your computer instead.
  • Make sure that the drivers for your Lifeline are up to date, these may be downloaded from our website at:http://updates.nautiluslifeline.com/NautilusLifelineDriverInstall.exe.
  • Sometimes, one USB port from your computer may have better connectivity than another: try using another USB port on your computer.
  • If your drivers were installed incorrectly, this may affect your computer’s ability to read the presence of your Lifeline.  Try removing the Lifeline drivers from your computer using the “Device Manager” and then reinstalling the drivers from this link: http://updates.nautiluslifeline.com/NautilusLifelineDriverInstall.exe.  Be sure to use the Quickstart Guide listed on our website under the Downloads Tab.

Does your computer “chime” when your Lifeline is connected?

  • Windows XP machines may come up with a “Found New Hardware” Wizard. Guide the customer through the “Advanced” driver installation with instructions from the website.
  • Windows 7/Vista will initially try to find the driver through Windows Update.  This will likely fail, and it should then come up with a “Failed to Install Driver” message.
